Portrait mummy of a man, from Hawara, 2nd century AD. The pattern of the wrapping is characteristic of the Hawara area; here it is ornamented with gilded stucco studs.
The contrast between the three-quarter pose of the head and the frontal feet gives an uncanny impression.
