The
Camden Town Group
A
group of English painters formed in 1911, who often
met in Sickert's studio in north London. They took
much of their subject matter from urban working-class
life and were influenced by the strong forms and
colours used by artists such as Vincent van Gogh and
Gauguin. In 1913 the group amalgamated with other
associations, notably the Vorticists, to
become the London Group.
