New British Sculpture Group

A group of sculptors associated with the Lisson Gallery in London in the early 1980s. There is no specific characteristic style which links them together and yet they all worked with ordinary and conventional materials, and attempted to connect the meaning of their work with everyday life. What also defined these artists was their return to the production of individual, autonomous objects, after the innovations of Conceptual and Performance Art, which had dominated the previous decade.

Representative artists:
Cragg, Deacon, Opie, Woodrow
