St.
Ives Group
A
group of artists who lived and worked in the Cornish
seaside town of St Ives in the early 1940s. Key
members of the group were Hepworth and Nicholson, who
moved to St Ives during the Second World War.
Although each had their own individual style, they
all worked in the abstract tradition, producing works
influenced by the light, sea and landscape of their
immediate surroundings.
